Project Overview
Located in Mahabubnagar Distt. Telangana, the 15 MW alternating current (AC) Karoor Solar Plant is owned and developed by Winsol Solar Fields (Polepally) Pvt. Ltd (a subsidiary of First Solar Power India Pvt. Ltd). Sterling & Wilson designed and constructed the power plant using 172,788 of First Solar's thin-film PV modules. The power plant will supply electricity through the grid to the Southern Power Distribution Company of Telangana State Limited for a period of 25 years.
Entering commercial operation in July of 2016, the Karoor Solar Plant will generate enough energy to meet the annual needs of approximately 26,500 average Indian homes. Using clean solar power also avoids the annual emission of approximately 24,000 metric tons of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere.
