Project Overview
The Hindupur Solar Power plant, located on over 195 acres of land in Hindupur Anantpur Distt, in Andhra Pradesh, highlights the immense potential of utility-scale solar in assisting India in transitioning to a renewable energy future.
The 40MW AC power plant, which is powered by 432,564 of First Solar's advanced thin film solar modules, will generate 81.16 GWh of clean solar electricity per year. That plant generates electricity with zero emissions during the operation, powers 71,500 average Indian homes and displaces over 64,000 metric tons of carbon dioxide equivalent emissions per year.
Commissioned in March of 2016, the construction of the plant was undertaken by EPC, Sterling & Wilson. The power plant will supply electricity through the grid to Southern Power Distribution Company of Andhra Pradesh Limited for a period of 20 years.
Project Benefits
- Will displace 64,000 metric tons of CO2 equivalent emissions per year.
- No water used for electricity generation.
