Project Overview
The Blue Wing Solar Project takes advantage of First Solar’s advanced thin film PV modules, known for superior performance in high-temperature climates like Texas. The largest PV solar energy facility in the state, Blue Wing generated 115 jobs during the peak of construction. With an annual output of approximately 25,000 megawatt-hours, the facility is estimated to serve the needs of about 1,800 average homes annually.
Project Benefits
The Blue Wing Solar Project demonstrates leadership for Texas in the utility-scale solar market, while providing clean, renewable energy. With an output of approximately 25,000 megawatt-hours, JSI estimates that the facility generates enough power to serve the needs of about 1,800 average homes per year while displacing approximately 18,200 metric tons of carbon dioxide emissions annually.
Community Commitment
Blue Wing continues to benefit the area by creating tax revenues for local schools, the City of San Antonio, and Bexar County.
